FCPX vs Premiere vs Resolve Speed Test – And First Impressions of Final Cut

This is a render competition between Adobe Premiere Pro CC, DaVinci Resolve 12 and Final Cut Pro X.
Long story short, FCPX is fast, really fast.

First Impressions of FCPX

The reason I have started evaluating Final Cut is because Im ditching Premiere.
Its been a long journey and I have been very happy with it. But recently its become a bit of a burden. And that makes me even more happy about Adobe switching to a subscription.
I can leave without loosing money!

But most of all I hate the color panel, the scopes as well as Speed Grade.
So Im jumping ship.

Resolve is free and great so thats a no brainer. But it still lacks a little in the editing department. So I decided to try FCPX. A big reason I haven’t earlier is all the hate it got in the beginning.

Here are my first impression short list:
  • Its very fast
  • Its very simple
  • Its very intuitive
  • The scopes are great
  • The color correction is no way near as bad as people say, its pretty sweet to be honest
  • It renders like lightning
  • I don’t like that clips need to connect to something

Overall Im stoked. This could be the beginning of a great time with quick and easy editing as well as fast renderings.
